I'm not sure that I read the last chapter that well. I haven't had a chance to backtrack on the last couple. I think its likely there will be both a troop search party and its possible the group holding them are friendly. It would be just like Laurent to set it up and pressurise the Regent in that way. We never did discover how far his network of spies went after the incident at the brothel and who knows what the repercussions of that night were. As that was not too long after the attempt on Laurent's life I think he might have been actioning a number of contingencies. Also the time with Helvik's girls was purposeful and pre-arranged. He's probably got any number of plans on the go. In terms of POV freece is limited how she could show this as its from Damen's persepctive so no doubt it'll unfold as he discovers whats happening.

I think it would be wonderful if the female warriors rescue them and Damen gets his end away again - thus prompting Laurent to another frenzy of frustration :D
