TBTM - Uncertainty

OMG! I finally wrote something at last - a timestamp ficlet (or long drabble, depending on how you look at it) for coffeejunkii who requested a Tomorrow Belongs to Me future fic:





It had been thirty six months of happiness, approximately. Approximately, because Harry’s Portkey lagged brain, despite the afternoon nap, couldn’t be more specific at that moment. Well, it hadn’t exactly been a nap, more a passion-filled bout of spectacular make up sex fuelled by Draco’s need to show Harry what he thought mere words could not convey - Harry had nothing to worry about.

Put like that, Harry thought while gazing from the balcony of Draco’s suite over the immaculate gardens below, and it did make him seem selfish for protesting so vehemently about staying here, in this house - the house he had left with Draco on the eve of Faith’s wedding three years ago.

Yet old doubts once buried had soon resurfaced, coiling in his gut before rising to painfully clench his heart, once the magnificent iron gates barring entry to the Malfoy estate had swung silently open before them upon their arrival for the christening of Draco’s six month old grandson, leaving Harry with a sense of foreboding rather then welcome.

Doubts about Draco wanting to leave England and his family once more to return home – their home in Canada.

Doubts about how much he would want to stay with Harry once he’d held the future in his arms and looked into it’s clear grey eyes.

Harry turned and looked across the quiet room toward Draco’s sleeping form. As the moments of quiet introspection slipped by, he realised that when he really thought about it: thought about the quiet joy on Draco’s face, shinning through his eyes when he explained that never, during those long years apart, had he dared to hope that one day he would be able to share this room, his bed with Harry, then he could push the shadows of those doubts away because he was loved, loved enough to leave all this behind once more.

so they moved to canada, huh? that's understandable--wanting to really start over. it's equally unsurprising that harry would worry about going back and being confronted with the past. and then draco shows him that these worries are unfounded...*sigh*. just the way it should be :).

Sorry it was so short - but sweet. Looking at it now, I can see how I could rewrite it so it would be more detailed buiding up from gettng the invitation to actually entering the house, but after 4 months at least it's something - hopefully the first of many. *G*

I had in my mind thet they would need to move somewhere well away from the UK, so I thought of Vancouver because of all the spiritualism surrounding vancouver Island.

I haven't had time to read it all yet because it's out SATs week and I've been busy marking test papers each night. If you need it in 3 days, as you said earlier, I won't be able to do it. I didn't realise it was going to be so long - which is not a criticism.

Not a problem! Completely understandable. I found it funny that you thought it was long! It's so short compared to my other stories! *laughs*

I can't even imagine grading all those papers. *shudders* I am so happy to hear that things are still going all right with you regarding still working. I know it must be tough on you. *hugs*

For the last three days I've been stressing. Know why? Ants! One day out of the blue I look over my shoulder while I'm on my computer to check my cats food dish. The next thing I see is a line of ants pouring all over it! Apparently they're under the foundation of my apartment complex. I spend hours trying everything to get rid of them! Soapy water, bleach, tried drowning the bastards... my sis told me to use apple vinegar till the pest control came today. Let me tell you, I haven't been so freaked out since lord knows when. I kept feeling them all over my body. (of course they weren't there but still. *g*

A little short, but I think it gets the point across. I can see now how I could extend it and do that moment through Harry's eyes. I would suspect that Harry felt threatened by the little chap's hold on Draco's heart.
