Hmmmmm. To stretch or not to stretch.

In most NC-17 slash fics I have read (that are not non-con) there is usually an element of preparation in the form of stretching the anus by hand or by spell, before the fucking begins.

After having watched 42 hours of QAF (US series 1 and 2) I have yet to see anything resembling that taking place, and I don't mean close shots of Brian with his fingers up Justin's arse. All fucking on the show (so far seen) consists of some fore play - kissing, sucking of nipples or cock, then condom on and straight in. Lube rarely puts in an appearance.

I can't help but wonder how painful it is to be penetrated without prior preparation.

Pretty much what everyone else said. If the person is even remotely nervous, then much more prep will be needed. Also, different people enjoy anal in different degrees. I think that because mostly females write slash, it's something that most of us have latched onto. I know that with myself, I've actually enjoyed anal a lot more (tmi) with a lot of stretching. But I know others, who barely need any stretching. On the other hand, I know one girl who will never ever have anal becase it just won't work.

And yes, I have a lot of discussions about sex and anal with one group of friends. It's basically all we talk about.

I know fics are often the ideal, but knowing how emotionally stunted men - in particular teenage boys, can be, it always grates slightly when 16 - 18 year old Harry and Draco can be so articulate about what they want. see, that's part of why i like writing them when they are older and have been together for a while. but i don't like the whole "tell me what you want" question in fic anyway... i think it's more fun to show what one of them is doing and how the other reacts, esp. if it's an established rel-ship fic and they know just how to touch each other to get one another off.

I've known my husband more than half my life, and if me asked me that question now I'd still feel really awkward expressing some of my desires. I've actually found this current obsession with slash to be a really liberating thing.

i know, right? it's kind of an odd question. i realize that in fic, it serves the function of having one of them articulate a fantasy and it's hot to read that, but that's one of those things where fic comes up against rl, imo. fandom certainly provides a number of interesting insights ;).

okay now i'm jumping in.

again, this is a personal thing. some are thoroughly embarrassed by the question and don't know how to respond, others (yes, in RL) thrive on it. their entire experience in bed is filled with 'dirty talk'. yes, even young ones. no, i never got into it (seems overly clinical to me, [*shrugs*]), but i can't fault a fic that has it.

well, i know RL people that ask such questions in sex (had a boyfriend that did until he figured out i never knew how to answer, not because i was embarrassed, but because i was too inexperienced to articulate that i wanted anything besides what he was doing. sorry is that tmi?

my point is that different people behave differently and though i often think that fics write their characters much more mature and open than your average male (british or no) it isn't that question that makes me think that.

Funnily enough when I wrote Harry's first sex scene in Res (the one in Draco's room), I had Harry really quite 'emotionally embarrassed' about the whole thing, especially when Draco shoved his fingers up him. But one of my betas said he was TOO embarrassed and in the end it was toned down quite a bit. Maybe I shall have to rewrite that scene at some point *g*
