IMO re Dumbledore

I can't help but wonder if JKR's announcement regarding Dumbledore was no more than a well timed publicity stunt designed to give her more kudos with adult readers and audiences, along with a slice of the 'pink' pound/dollar/yen/rupee etc.

You think? I can't imagine that happening where I live, although I'm sure some copies woud promptly find themselves in the bin. I have several muslim children in my class who adore Harry Potter. Now, because homosexuality is a sin in Islam, will their parents feel inclined to ban the books if they knew what JKR has said? *ponders*

JKR has been very careful, IMO, to hedge her bets by strongly implying that Dumbledore never had sex. His love for Grindelwald was unrequited, and she could be read as saying, over the Kloves script, 'Dumbledore didn't have romances, he was gay!'

It's the act of sex between men that's considered sinful in the more orthodox versions of all the Abrahamic religions, not the desire for it.
